# How to read a Washington vehicle business license record

> License types, statuses, the bond, and what the Department of Licensing file leaves out.

## How to read these records

### The license

The state file has one row per location and per past state of a license. This site groups them: one record per
license type and number, showing the active row with the latest expiration, and the other locations on file below.
The license number is not unique across license types, so each record carries a reference made of a short code for
the type and the number (MVD-00015).

### Status

Active, held, expired or terminated, as in the file of October 1, 2026. City and type pages list active licenses only.

### The bond

Most dealer licenses require a surety bond. The record shows the bond status the file gives; “bond not required”
is the file's own wording.

### What is not here

Phone numbers in the state file, complaints and disciplinary actions, and trucking companies. A date the file
leaves empty is shown as a dash.

AI labs pay businesses to record first-person video of everyday hands-on work — filmed by their own staff with a
smartphone on a wearable mount, with consent and under contract.
